Hype and diet supplement advertising go together like peanut butter and jelly.  There is just no shortage of catch phrases and “ultra super hardcore totally powerful crazy potent” ways to spin a product.  While Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped offers its share of hype, aside from a massive dose of caffeine it doesn’t appear to be all that great for healthy long-term weight loss.

How Does Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped Work?

According to the company there were two studies (8 and 12 week) done on the blend of mint, cumin, olive, and lady’s mantle (called “Arimicut” in the Xenadrine formula) that showed significant weight loss.  The company appears to attribute the weight loss to these herbs, but there is no scientific basis for it.

The more likely case is that the test subjects were exercising, reducing their calorie intake, and benefiting from the metabolic boost of the caffeine in Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped.  This would definitely provide weight loss by burning more calories than taken in, but this is not a concept unique to a diet supplement like Xenadrine.

Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped Side Effects

With such a large dose of caffeine (the equivalent of 3 cups of coffee per dose), you can be sure to feel a few unpleasant side effects unless you are used to chugging caffeinated beverages everyday. This is not to say that caffeine isn’t safe, but this is a big dose.  You may experience restlessness, tremors, insomnia, increased heart rate and anxiety. Do not take this product if you are under 18o or pregnant/nursing.

As you can see, the caffeine is surrounded by a handful of vitamins, amino acids and herbs. There really isn’t a lot of evidence to suggest that any of the herbs included will help directly with weight loss, but the amino acids are often included in diet supplements to support a healthy metabolism. In any case, their combined dosage after taking our the caffeine is only 109 mg, so its hard to believe any one herb is in a potent dose.

Should You Try Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped?

Maximum Strength Xenadrine Ripped sells for as low as $40 plus shipping, which is about average for a diet supplement of its kind.  With a potent dose of caffeine, you can definitely expect a metabolic boost to get more from your workout, but we’d say this resembles more of a caffeine pill than a diet supplement. Depending on the place you buy it from, you should at least be able to return it unopened for a refund, but don’t expect a satisfaction guarantee if you try it and it just makes you jittery.
