Editors' Top Pick of 2012
Do we ever rate a diet pill positively? Yes. Although it's rare, there are a few diet pills that meet our strict recommendation requirements. Why don't we recommend Prograde Metabolism? We're looking for clinically proven ingredients, money back guarantees and low prices. Apidexin is our favorite. You can read our review or go to the official site.
Prograde Metabolism: Does it Live Up to the Hype?
As a fairly generic diet supplement, a lot of Prograde Metabolism’s marketing strategy actually involves trying to make itself seem like “the good guy” in a world of deceptively marketed diet supplements. It was developed by a registered dietitian and personal trainer named Jayson who does his best to dispell all of the lies and myths of the diet supplement industry.
And while we’re totally down with that, we began to be a little suspicious when we saw Prograde Metabolism being marketed with a lot of anecdotal evidence, not disclosing ingredient concentration and even being sold in auto-ship programs…not to mention ridiculous claims like “this may be the most important discovery for weight loss in the last 50 years!” So, while it may be a little more up-front about these things than the average diet supplement, we’re still not convinced that Prograde Metabolism is going to be effective for the price.
How Does Prograde Metabolism Work?
Prograde Metabolism claims to work by boosting your metabolism. This is basically the fundamental way that most diet supplements work and most do it by including a big dose of caffeine and usually some antioxidants. While this can definitely accelerate your metabolism and help you burn more calories as you’re working out, the bottom line is that usually they overstate the effectiveness and overcharge you for it.
Prograde Metabolism also happens to make a big deal about green tea, of which it contains an undisclosed amount. This is a great companion to caffeine and provides antioxidants, but again, it’s pretty cheap. Other ingredients like cinnamon are intended to promote healthy blood glucose levels, but this doesn’t necessarily promote weight loss directly. In short, these ingredients, assuming good dosage, will burn extra calories but are nothing revolutionary and will NOT target belly fat as claimed.
Prograde Metabolism Side Effects
Prograde Metabolism is claimed to be side-effect free, but if you are sensitive at all to stimulants then you may experience side effects like headache, nausea, upset stomach, anxiety and sleeplessness. They do warn you not to take more than the recommended dosage in a day and that you shouldn’t use Prograde Metabolism if you are under 18.

As you might imagine, caffeine and green tea being listed first means they’re the most concentrated. Add a hefty dose of cinnamon bark and you’re not leaving much for an effective dose of capsaicin, which is actually a really great thermogenic. The combination of methionine, inositol and choline is a nice touch, but there are no proven weight loss benefits from supplementing with these ingredients so far. The studies cited on the benefits of these ingredients don’t mention the same dosage used in Prograde Metabolism and a lot of the benefits are cited from “personal communication.”
Should You Try Prograde Metabolism?
As it is pretty clear that Prograde Metabolism is a basic green tea and caffeine blend with a few other ingredients on the side, it resembles at least 13,249 other diet supplements we can think of. ….Okay, maybe not that many, but we don’t see any reason to pay $50 for 30 days worth of it when you can buy caffeine and green tea individually for much cheaper. The other downside to Prograde Metabolism is that it doesn’t come with a real guarantee. They say its a 60-day “satisfaction guarantee” but considering they don’t refund your money if you’ve actually opened the bottle to try it, we call that a basic return policy. There is just really nothing about Prograde Metabolism that merits your attention in the sea of other diet supplements.
