Rose Aroma Wrap: Does it Live Up to the Hype?

“Thanks to the properties of the unique, new-and-improved clay formulation,” Rose Aroma Wrap claims to “visibly re-tone and tighten loose skin, as well as promote “all-important instant inch loss. It may also help visibly reduce the appearance of stretch marks and unsightly cellulite.”  And all of this in a matter of an hour? That’s a lot to live up to for a box of ace bandages and some clay.

In case you’ve never heard of this type of product before in all of your diet supplement research, Rose Aroma Wrap is an alternative spa treatment where you wrap a specific part of your body with hot, wet mineral-soaked cloth in order to supposedly “draw out the toxins that live in and around fat cells.”  The extra gimmick with Rose Aroma Wrap is, not surprisingly, that it smells like roses. As far as living up to the hype, these treatments often do result in an inch or two lost around the waist or thighs, but its not toxins that are being removed and its not an effective way to lose weight, especially compared to many of the high-end diet supplements available.

How Does Rose Aroma Wrap Work?

The Rose Aroma Wrap kit is really pretty simple. You throw some water on the stove to heat, get it piping hot and then empty one of the Rose Aroma  clay packets into it along with the bandages.  Let that soak for 30 minutes to let the bandages get fully saturated and then when its cool enough for your skin to bear, wrap it firmly around the “problem area”, whether it be your stomach, hips, thighs, waist, chest or neck (though you’re not going to want to wrap it too tightly around your neck obviously).

At this point, you wrap the bandages up with plastic wrap (from any kitchen supply or grocery store) with holes in it to allow it all to breathe and then you wrap all of THAT with a towel to stay warm.  You then sit back like a 3 layered burrito for an hour.  Upon removing your cocoon, you may find you’ve lost an inch or two (if its around your thighs or belly).

The reason this sometimes works is because of osmosis, where water in between your skin cells (known as interstitial fluid) will naturally move from areas of low mineral concentration (the epidermis) to areas of high concentration (the hot clay/salt bandages).  Over the course of an hour, enough fluid leaves the skin to “shrink” it a little bit.

Rose Aroma Wrap Side Effects

Because you’re compressing the skin, Rose Aroma Wrap may affect circulation and  shouldn’t be used by those who are pregnant, suffering from of emphysema or phlebitis (inflammation of the veins), or at risk for blood clots. Though it does remove water, Rose Aroma Wrap shouldn’t dehydrate you as it only takes fluid from the skin tissue.

Rose Aroma Wrap Ingredient Highlights

Each Rose Aroma Wrap kit comes with:

• 8 Rose Aroma clay sachets (packets)
• 2 absorbent bandages (similar to ace bandages)
• Instruction Manual

Though the company doesn’t list specific ingredients for the clay packets, it does mention that they contain rose essential oils as well as a salt clay mixture.  This usually consists of bentonite clay, which is highly absorbent.

Should you try Rose Aroma Wrap?

First of all, if you’re looking for diet supplements that can actually help you burn fat and lose weight, then wrap treatments like Rose Aroma Wrap are not the way to go. There is barely any reliable evidence that they work to shrink the skin, much less remove any sort of “toxins” from fat cells. Sure, you say, but anything’s worth trying once! Well, be our guest, but you’re going to have to shell out $64 plus another $17.50 in international shipping to try Rose Aroma Wrap when you could have spent that money on diet supplements that actually work.
