Where the Smart for Life Cookie Crumbles

Whether we like to face it or not, one of the leading reasons for obesity in America is laziness. Combine laziness with an un-healthy, fat-saturated diet and you get a fat person. If the roles were reversed and losing weight was easy, and gaining weight difficult, you’d see a change in the weight demographics of America. Unfortunately the roles of weight gaining are not reversed and losing weight can be a real challenge.

Smart for Life Cookies detractor is a word found in its very title: Life. By strictly following the Smart for Life program it appears you will have little time for anything else, let alone enjoying your healthy body.

The most boring diet I ever tried. While it is a no-brainer and handy to grab a cookie and go ,overall I want to cry.6 cookies aday .Cant imagine how to dress-up this diet !

  • Marsha

Ummmmmmmm, well I’ve done this for 4+ weeks now and have really lost 16 pounds and am feeling happy about that! Give it a try! It’s worth it!!

  • nadie

I am on the cookie diet, almost 2 weeks now and lost 10 pounds! Eat cookies all day and get creative at night for supper. At the beginning it was hard, but you get used to it. Very happy with the results so far.

For me, a person who doesn’t want to be bothered with eating and just needs to lose a bit of weight while still getting proper nutrition this is great. I loved the cookies but yes you need to drink the water. As a maintenace you can add and adjust how you want to incorporate this into a regular lifestye. I’m not hungry, I don’t forget to eat, and a great meal at night with the family, better choices made…LOVE the system!!!

I ordered the $279.00 Smart for Life cookies. I was planning a big vacation this summer and wanted to lose some weight. I started on the cookies and ate folling the meal plan exactly. I went from 170 lbs to 208 and my waist went from 32-34 to 45-50. My doctors are putting me thru many test trying to find out what is happening. I have not told them that I was eating the Smart for Life cookies yet. They have not found anything wrong with me medically…..My thought is that the cookies are making me gain instead of losing weight. I am devastated…..Ashamed to go outside and be seen…This is the worst thing that has ever happened to me…..

I went on the diet 2 years ago and lost 20 lbs. I was thrilled with the weight loss! The diet is really hard the first week or so but once you get past that, it was a breeze. You have to drink the water. Very important. Just FYI, the cookies that you buy on line are more calories than the ones that you get at the center.
That is because that diet is medically supervised. I was on the medically supervised one.

My problem with the diet is the maintanance. It is hard to figure out what to eat when you go off the diet and there is very little direction given. That being said, I kept the weight off for about a year or so and then slowly gained 10 lbs of it back. It has now been 2 years since the initial weight loss and I am restarting the diet tomorrow. Hopefully I will drop these 10 lbs quickly.
I am very aware of how I have gotten lazy and gone back to some bad eating and drinking habits over the past 12 months. I just need to correct that again. By the way, I love the cookies but the muffins suck. :)

I went on the smart for life cookie diet in november, and had successfully lost 35pounds by late February. Since I have a sweet tooth, this diet worked out great for me. I drank lots of unsweetened green tea as well as water, and everything seemed fine. The only thing that I ABSOLUTELY recommend to anyone who is planning to try this diet, is please, please don’t forget to take a multivitamin supplement. I did this diet on my own, and thought that I didn’t need the extra boost that vitamins offer…now I realized that the too low nutrient intake is causing me to experience significant hair loss. It’s unfortunate that I wasn’t informed enough to know better.

  • Ann

I have been on the cookie diet for 3-1/2 weeks now and have lost 11 lbs. The great thing about it is you don’t have to worry about breakfast or lunch…just grab the cookies and go. I must admit you do not get hungry at all throughout the day. It works….I will stick to it maybe for another 5 weeks supply and then just maintain my weight by eating healthy and excersising….because all in all that’s what it really comes down to.

  • Sherie

I loved this diet. With my busy schedule I don’t have time to cook for the family and myself seperately. I cook for them grab my cookies and go. I know it may be boring for some. But It’s not a lifetime diet. You see the results fast and thats motivating. Make sure you take your multivitamin supplements. I get constipated easily so I needed some sienna. But it’s all so worth it. I didn’t even have to work out. It’s perfect for the busy mom that doesn’t have time for herself. My muscle stayed and the fat melted away. I lost 23lbs and look so much better then losing 23 pounds on a “regular diet”. SFL helps you make better choices so when your at your goal you can stick to it. I heated my cookies to have warm muffins. WORKED FOR ME!

I have been on this diet for only 10 days (today is 11), and I have lost 14 lbs. I have not been on a diet before, so I had no expectation regarding results, but this exceeds anything I would have expected. Its easy (after the first day or two),I like/need the structure, and the cookies taste OK. My immediate goal was 25 lbs, I feel I am well on my way. My only question for those who have been on this diet before – is there a rebound effect?

  • CHERYL

I tried SFL and got headaches, but I didn’t take vitamins like I should have. My best friend in Fla was so dedicated and lost over 120 lbs in a year. She ate the cookies, shakes, pudding, muffins, crunch, etc. and got so creative with her cookies. Adding Walden Farms Sugar Free sauces to them etc. She looks amazing. I am thinking about trying it again. She was very strict to the diet and was even a spokes person for the Sarasota location.

I joined the medical program 1 1/2 ago and lost 44 pounds. Smart for Life is a blessing. I did in almost in 5 months. It would have take me 1 year or more. You have to be smart enough to understand that is more than a cookie diet is a lifestyle change. I go to the gym 5 times a week, PLAN AHEAD what I am going to eat therefore I make better food choices. It’s simple burn more calories than you consume. I know is not easy to execute because in the priorities list people put themselves last or many they dont even appear. No matter what you do YOU are not indispensable. So taking time to exercise and take care of yourself will guarantee permanent weight loss and better health. Thank you Smart for Life!!!

  • melani

I lost a ton of weight and a huge chunk of my hair too… I am very sad. I didn’t know this could be a side effect. Don’t let the diet fool you, take your vitamins and toss in some fruit throughout the day, nuts and egss and eat fish. Otherwise, you could end up like me.

  • Diane

The Smart for Life Cookie Diet is the only diet that works for me. I have hypoglycemia. I saw more than one nutritionist and they told me that between meals I should eat a few nuts with fruits or cheese. My sugar level would drop within the hour. The Smart for Life Cookie Diet WORKS! I eat a cookie or muffin every two hours and the sugar level is always stable. This is great on shopping days. I pack a few cookies and they fit perfectly in my purse and off I go. What do you usually eat when shopping at the mall… fast food! I’ll stick to my Smart for Life cookies. I Lost 38 lbs in 3 months and I look and feel great!

  • Maggie

I am actually doing a report for Smart For Life. Are there any side effects to this diet?

  • Michelle

I have lost 12 pounds in 2 weeks. Not hungry at all and enjoy the taste of the chocolate chip cookies. They have a new product out called SFL bagel chips. I have them with a little tuna mixed with fat free mayo. Talk about yum! Going on this diet was a great decision and I look forward to step on the scale.

  • Marge

I have been struggling with the cookies… not the flavors, they taste ok but the texture is a little hard to swallow (for me personally). I started three days ago… I have 42 pounds that I want to shed and I have been faithful with the diet; however, the first and second day I was only able to eat three of the six cookies recommeded. Today (day 3) I am on cookie #4 and hoping that it is going to get easier. I have bought a 42 day supply so it is going to be a long 39 days if these cookies do not get easier to swallow. So far I have neither lost nor gained any weight. Will weigh in again in two days and will update.

    Wish me luck!

  • Marge

So, I am on day 5 now and the cookies have gotten much easier to eat; as a matter of fact I look forward to them now and enjoy them. I will weigh in on Saturday, one week from the start date and let you know how I have made out. I must say that I am feeling great! I find it easy to say no to offers for snacks that would have once gotten the better of me. I am sure that is because I NEVER feel hungry. I have not gotten up to six cookies per day yet — still working on that.

    I will update again shortly!

  • Marge

Ok, week 1 was successful! I followed the plan almost to a tee; however, I did cheat when work was celebrating someone’s departure yesterday. I had a moderate piece of cake and felt guilty with every morsel BUT I walked for one hour last night to make up for it. In any case, after a cheat and a week of trying to get used to the diet I still was able to shed 5 pounds and I feel great!! Thank you SFL and I will continue to tell my journey on this program.

I will update again next week!

  • Marge

So, I am back to update week two of my SFL experience. There were times during this week that were TOUGH but I managed very well. I have gotten really creative with my evening meals and am learning to cook healthy family meals. I cleaned out my pantry on day 8 along with my fridge and tossed all the junk… ALL of it, much to my family’s dismay. I did not exercise as much as I wanted to but I am going to commit more to that for next week. SO, drumroll please…

This week I have shed another 3.5 pounds!

I am feeling on top of the world and I know that I am learning skills that will be with me forever! My sister is so pleased with my results that she started yesterday…

I will update again next week… not sure that anyone is reading this but it feels great to share so I will continue.

i was on SML for about a month aand lost about 30 pounds. However it was being given to me for free (long story) and i couldnt afford it after that. i did lose the weight though. i would love to do it again but i am going to try the fullbar as a substitute since they ‘seem’ to be the same. hopefully it will have similar results.
